A mammoth crowd comprising of both adult and youth in the Tamale metropolis on Monday evening, April 16th met on arrival Fancy Gadam, as he touched down at the Tamale International Airport after he won “big” at the just ended 19th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) over the weekend.
The event was characterized by a great show of affection for Fancy Gadam for making the region proud on the VGMAs night, grabbing two big awards (Vodafone Song of the Year & Hiplife Song of the Year) with his smash hit song, “Total Cheat” featuring Sarkodie.
The crowd matched through the principal streets of the Northern Regional capital of Tamale to celebrate Fancy’s achievements as the first Northern musician to have won those two category of awards and Best New Act of the Year at the 2016 edition of the VGMAs.
The “Yakacha” singer and his team (5M Music) together with his huge fan base (Gadam Nation) paid a curtesy call on the Gukpe-Naa Alhassan Abdulai who is the Paramount Chief Tamale, Nyab Dakpema Alhassan and Lamashegu-Naa at their palace.
Born Ahmed Mujahid Bello, Fancy Gadam also used the occasion to express his profound gratitude to the region especially the “Gadam Nationals” for their continuous support during and after the campaign.
He is considered the most successful and celebrated musician in the North. He filled the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium (formally Tamale Sports Stadium) on several occasions and has also staged his own shows at the National Theater, Kumasi and Sunyani.
Fancy has also shared the same stage with the likes of Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebowy, Ebony Reigns (late) etc. He earned the tittle “Ruler” of the Northern Showbiz industry.
